Sanitation Related Preventive Controls: Systemic Methods to Ensure Food Safety in Your Operation

It is curious why FDA in their writing and publication of the “Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food; Final Rule”, address equipment sanitation in Subpart A, Definitions, Subpart B on GMPs (117.35, 117.40, 117.80) and Subpart C on Preventive Controls (117.135). Was this oversight, unintended duplication or was this a message to the food manufacturing industry to put more effort into the cleaning and sanitizing of processing equipment?

The first 3-A SSI Summit on Hygienic Design attracted a large and diverse group of professionals from across the U.S. and around the world on May 7-9 in Chicago, IL. The 2½ day event provided comprehensive education and training as well as new insights on the critical role of hygienic design in product safety.

3-A SSI Introduces Improved Standards Development Procedures

3-A SSI has long dedicated its full time and attention to improvements in the extensive catalog of 3-A Sanitary Standards and 3-A Accepted Practices. Along the way of considering revisions to the ANSI/3-A 00-01-2018, the General Requirements Standard, it became evident that 3-A SSI also needed to make some serious upgrades to the procedures it follows to reach consensus on all types of documents. 3-A SSI formally introduced the new Procedures for the Development and Maintenance of 3-A Sanitary Standards and Accepted Practices on May 31.

3-A SSI Calls for Ad Hoc Working Group Members to Revise ANSI/3-A Sanitary Standard for General Requirements

3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc. calls for Ad Hoc Working Group volunteers to review revision proposals to the American National Standard designated 3-A Sanitary Standard for General Requirements, ANSI/3-A 00-01-2018 under its recently revised Procedures for the Development & Maintenance of 3-A Sanitary Standards & Accepted Practices.
