3-A SSI announced the recipients of its 2024 Volunteer Service Awards, new leadership for a major committee and the latest annual progress report at the 3-A SSI Annual Meeting held at the Marriott Chicago O’Hare Airtport Hotel in Chicago, IL.
2024 Volunteer Service Awards
The 3-A SSI Volunteer Service Awards recognize the extraordinary dedication and commitment of individuals who contribute to the development of voluntary standards and the mission of 3-A SSI. Nominations for the awards are made by fellow volunteers from the three stakeholder groups in 3-A SSI – regulatory sanitarians, fabricators, and processors.
3-A SSI Chair John Allan (International Dairy Foods Association) announced two award recipients for 2024.
• Jean DeLisi (Tetrapak) received the Leadership Service Award for outstanding service to the voluntary standards development of 3-A SSI and significant contributions to the mission of 3-A SSI.
• Dennis Glick (USDA AMS Dairy Programs) received the Richard K. Smith 3-A SSI Advancement Award for outstanding accomplishments performed by any individual or group on behalf of 3-A SSI.
New Leader for 3-A Steering Committee
The 3-A SSI Board of Directors also announced the appointment of Frank Di Mattei (Hy-Tech Solutions, LLC) as Chair of the 3-A Steering Committee, which is responsible for overseeing the current inventory of 3-A Sanitary Standards and 3-A Accepted Practices and proposals for new industry work projects. Frank has extensive experience in preparing 3-A SSI criteria and he has a long record of collaborating across interest groups as a voting member of the fabricator interest category.
3-A SSI recognizes and extends deep appreciation to previous Chair Paul Dix (Maryland Department of Health) for leading the committee through a long list of upgrades and improvements in the catalog of 3-A Sanitary Standards and 3-A Accepted Practices. Paul also led the committee to embrace new procedures for consensus development with the goal of improving the quality, efficiency and economy of the 3-A SSI structure and due process. Paul served the maximum two terms allowed under the 3-A SSI Bylaws.
